Little Bear is the same age as you are. He lives in a house with Mother Bear and Father Bear. The house is right in the middle of Bear Forest where all of Little Bear's friends live. Little Bear and his friends like to explore the forest and pretend. Sometimes they pretend they are flying to the moon or fishing in the ocean. Sometimes they pretend that there are Goblins in the forest. Little Bear's favorite things are Mother Bear, painting, fishing with Father Bear and...chocolate cake!

Mother Bear always makes sure that Little Bear is safe. She is always nearby, even if he goes to the moon! Little Bear likes to help Mother Bear. When she was sick, Little Bear tucked her into bed and took her temperature. Little Bear paints lots of pictures for Mother Bear. He also picks flowers for her. Mother Bear makes things with Little Bear. They made Fisherman Bear together. Sometimes Mother Bear teases Little Bear. Once she pretended to put "prickly pine cone sprinkles" on his oatmeal. She was being silly. Mother Bear is a very good cook. Her specialty is chocolate cake. Who do you think likes to eat chocolate cake?

Father Bear is a fisherman. Sometimes Father Bear takes Little Bear on his boat. They sail for a long time on the ocean and spend the night on the boat. They sleep in sleeping bags and look up at the stars. Sometimes they see a Mermaid, or a whale, or...a sea monster! When he grows up, Little Bear wants to be a fisherman. Father Bear likes to eat the same thing Little Bear does--Mother Bear's chocolate cake!

Emily is Little Bear's best friend. She's a year older than Little Bear and has already been to school. Emily likes to be in charge. Emily brings Lucy, her doll, everywhere. They tell each other secrets. Little Bear wanted a doll too, so he made Fisherman Bear.

Duck likes to try new things. One of Duck's favorite things to do is finding new puddles to splash in after it's rained. She gets very excited when she and Little Bear pretend. Sometimes she pretends that she is Little Bear. The game is called "I'll Be You, and You Be Me." Who do you like to pretend to be?

Hen likes everything to be neat and clean. She likes to sweep the floor of her henhouse. She also likes to practice singing in front of a mirror. Hen would like to be an opera singer when she grows up. Little Bear and his friends like to sing songs. What song do you like to sing?

Cat is very sneaky. He likes to tip-toe behind Little Bear and his friends and shout, "Boo!" Cat naps in the sun during the day, and explores the forest at night. Sometimes he visits Little Bear at nighttime. He has strong eyes to see in the dark.

No-Feet lives in Mother Bear's garden. Mother Bear and Little Bear take care of him. No Feet watches them from his favorite sunning place, a big rock right in the middle of the garden. He and Little Bear play chase with crows.

Owl is very smart and serious. He knows a lot of rules. Owl says "hoot" when he meets his friends. Little Bear likes to make Owl laugh. When Little Bear hoots like Owl it makes him laugh. Then Owl growls like one of his friends. Can you guess what animal Owl growls like?
