A Capital Egg HuntWashington, D.C.Washington, D.C.! Our nation's capital! Full of statues, monuments, and, when I was there, people celebrating Easter.
Easter is a Christian holiday. It marks a very important event in the Christian faith. In the United States, kids look forward to the Easter Bunny and Easter egg hunts. The Easter Bunny brings candy to kids. It's a great tradition!
There's so much to see and do in Washington! And the people are great, too. Hear all about it in So Much to See in D.C..
I had a BIG Easter dinner with my friend Adriana and her family. Adriana helped her mom and grandmom make the food. We had turkey, teriyaki rice, sweet potato pudding, sweet corn, macaroni and cheese, and chocolate cake.
 What a great meal! If you want to taste just how good it was, here's a recipe for sweet potato pudding!
Adriana and her friends Karen, Morgan, Jasmine, Tonika, and Juanita showed me how to jump Double Dutch. Double Dutch means jumping rope with TWO ropes at one time. It's really hard! You have to get the rhythm just right.
I went to Easter services at the Mt. Bethel Baptist Church. That's where Alyssa, the drummer for Los Viajeros, went to church when she was a kid. Everybody was so dressed up! My friend Keith was part of the celebration. He plays the drums, too.
 Francine says that if she's ever in Washington, D.C., she wants to drum with Keith. And Alyssa, too, if she's back home!
Keith uses regular drum sticks for a regular drum sound. He uses brushes (kind of like paint brushes) to get a quieter sound. And he uses cotton-ended sticks to get big sounds from the cymbals.
