The Most Amazing Place

What's the strangest place you know? The hottest? The noisiest?

Materials

  • Drawing supplies
  • Stapler

Directions

Ask your child, "What's the... coldest, hottest, most crowded, most comfortable, strangest, noisiest, quietest, best, worst... place you've ever been?" Talk about and share your choices. Draw pictures of some of these places and write captions. Staple the pictures together to make a book. As a follow-up, go to your library (or onto the Web) with your child to look up statistics about extremes on earth — the hottest place, the windiest, the wettest, et cetera.

Talk About It

Culture is about holiday traditions, food, language, music, and religious practices, but it is also about values, bedtime routines, family gatherings, and everyday rituals. To learn more about the everyday culture of the Inuit people of Canada and Alaska, read some of the Related Books with your child. Talk to your child about your own family's culture. What aspects of your culture are most important to you? To your child?
