Discover simple treasures, right outside your door.
Materials
- Pencil and paper
- Binoculars and/or magnifying lens (optional)
Directions
Go on a Nature Treasure Hunt with your child. If you wish, bring binoculars and magnifying lenses. Put a check on the list each time you find one of the following things. Don't collect the items — just look closely.
- Something blue
- Something yellow
- Something smaller than a penny
- Something bigger than a car
- Something fuzzy
- Something shiny
- Something that comes in pairs
- Something that smells good
- A creature with legs
- A creature with wings
- Footprints or animal tracks
Talk About It
Ask your child, "What's your favorite place to be outside? What makes it special to you?" Tell your child about a favorite outdoor place or experience you had as a child.
