Write a poem about a treasured place or event.

Directions

In this episode, Carlos writes "Where My Soul Will Always Be", a song about Puerto Rico, his beloved childhood home. Help your child recall a place or event he or she loves. Together, create a Five Senses chart describing the sights, sounds, scents, feelings, and tastes your child associates with that place or event. Help your child pull the descriptions together to make a list poem or song. Encourage your child to draw pictures to illustrate the poem or song.

Talk About It

Find Puerto Rico on a map or globe. Talk about the things you know about Puerto Rico and the things you'd like to find out. Read some of the books in Related Books together and talk about the new information you discover about life on the island.
