Bronx Zoo

location, location, location
The Bronx Zoo is located in the Bronx, New York, one of New York City's fab five boroughs. You can get there by subway, city bus, or car. Take your pick!

what’s to see and do?
This zoo is one of the most famous in the world. What's so special about it? For starters, the Bronx Zoo is home to about 4,000 animals! These animals live in specially developed habitats that keep them comfortable in their home away from home. The DragonflyTV segment on biodiversity featured the Congo Gorilla Forest exhibit. But there are plenty of other hot spots to drop in on. Want to see nocturnal animals that are active when most of us sleep? Check out the World of Darkness. Curious about the big cats? Visit Tiger Mountain. Or more interested in the wee ones? Then don't miss the Mouse House. And the Bronx Zoo continues to grow. In 2006, African wild dogs will join cheetahs, lions, giraffes and other animals on the zoo's African Plains. In addition to its great exhibits, the Bronx Zoo accomplishes important conservation work, which means its staff works to save wildlife and wild places around the globe.

just for kids
The Bronx Zoo offers some really interesting classes, which are held year round for kids of all ages, including special summer sessions and a winter camp when school's out. Many of the programs let young people meet the animals up close. Just be sure to remember your manners!
