GPS: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park | Kilauea Visitor Center

location, location, location
Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park is located on the island of Hawai'i, which is the southeastern-most island in the Hawaiian chain of islands.

what’s to see and do?
The Kilauea Visitor Center is a good starting place for your visit. You can get the latest information on current eruptions and find hiking maps, permits, and the daily schedule of ranger-led fun. Be sure to also check out the Jaggar Museum on volcanology, which has a collection of seismographs and other equipment used by scientists to monitor volcanoes. The overlook offers fab views into the summit caldera!

just for kids
Like many national parks, Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park offers a Junior Ranger Program for kids age 5-12. Visit two of the world's most active volcanoes and earn a Junior Ranger badge! Other fun activities include daily ranger-led hikes and After Dark in the Park-you might want to invite your parents to these!

visit from home
The U.S. National Park system has an extensive website that highlights its many wonderful parks. You can visit Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park online at: www.nps.gov/havo
