Located in Jackson, this science center celebrates biodiversity in Mississippi's natural environment.
This museum features both indoor and outdoor exhibits. Indoors, look for a large aquarium system with over 200 species of the state's fishes, reptiles, amphibians, and aquatic invertebrates. Outdoors, check out trails, gardens, and bird-feeding areas. And don't miss "the swamp." This special greenhouse is home to lush Mississippi flora, turtles, fish and alligators!
The Mississippi Museum of Natural Science hosts some serious field-trip fun. Hands-on sessions invite kids check out mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, invertebrates, plants, or fossils up close. During wetlands sessions, students become researchers at Mayes Lake in LeFleur's Bluff State Park, studying the area's soil, plants, and water.
The museum's website has a special Kids Club with downloadable puzzles for science fun at home. Check it out at www.mdwfp.com/museum.
