Ruff told the kids about the legend of his great-great-great-great-great-great-grandfather, Ruffael Ruffmanowitz, who lived in spooky Hammond Castle with the famed inventor John Hayes Hammond. Ruff sent the whole team out to Hammond Castle to retrieve Ruffmanowitz's lost invention. Oh, and by the way, the castle was haunted by ghost cats.
Anna, Brian, and Khalil joined up at the castle and worked together to solve mysteries. They called themselves the "snake team." Their tasks included figuring out how different inventions worked, naming inventions, and making an invention of their own - a remote control grabber. They earned 80 points for their work as a team.
Taylor, Noah, and Julia called themselves the "rat team." They explored the castle dungeon, met dead people (skeletons), built a periscope, and cracked a special code. All together they earned 80 points. Both teams were awarded an additional 20 points for opening an old chest containing a mysterious record.
Though it looked like this challenge would end in a six-way tie Ruff still had bonus points to hand out. For leading her design team and eating cold soup, Anna was awarded 5 bonus points. Julia received 5 bonus points for her super sleuthing skills and for overcoming her fear of skeletons. The show ended in a two-way tie between Julia and Anna. Julia kept her prize, a remote control dog and Anna gave her share of the prize to Brian. (Not sure exactly how you split that kind of prize. Now, that's a quandary for King Solomon!)
Oh, and that mysterious record the FETCHers found in the chest ... it's a recording of Ruff's genius ancestor and inventor, Ruffael Ruffmanowitz. In the recording he told Ruff to kiss a cat and call it "a pretty puss, puss." Reluctantly, Ruff obeyed. It was painful to watch.
