Show 3: You Lucky Dog
Nina, Rosario, and Mike had to help Ruff win back his squeaky toys in a race—a soapbox derby car race! With the help of expert soapbox racer, Patrick, they designed, built, and raced their own sleek racer.
To improve Ruff's chances of winning the race, Bridget was sent out to "ride a dragon." In Chinese folklore dragons bring good luck. She met with expert dragonboat racer, Star, to learn more about dragons, lions, rowing, and luck. Bridget also competed in a race. Only this one was on the Charles River with lots of expert rowers.
Meanwhile, back at Studio G, Willie and Madi correctly answered all ten of the half-time quiz questions. They were the first FETCHers this season to get perfect scores!! Doing the math, that adds up to 50 "nifty" points.
After completing their challenges, Nina, Rosario, Mike, and Bridget returned to Studio G for the Triumph Tally:
Mike, Rosario, and Nina scored:
- 60 points: For designing and building a car
- 20 points: For redesigning an effective brake system
- 10 points: For great teamwork
- 10 points: For coming in 2nd place
But, Ruff also deducted 20 points because although they came in 2nd place in the race, there were only two racers competing. (That means they also came in last place.)
Giving Mike, Rosario, and Nina a total of 80 points!
Bridget scored:
- 40 points: For rowing and rowing, and rowing her boat
- 35 points: For working with her team and accepting loss with grace
- 15 points: For eating fishy food with grace
- 5 points: For her spiffy safety attire
Giving Bridget a total of 95 points!
BUT: "Is that all the points a dog can give?"
Ruff awarded 5 points to "the contestant who impersonated the tail of a dragon"—Bridget! She danced in a dragon costume at the Dragonboat Festival just before the race. Making Bridget the daily winner with 100 points. Bridget got a beautiful Chinese kite for her prize! After her victory she was flying high!
