Feeling sorry for yourself, you stay away from the dance the next night and head down to the stables, where a bunch of Rangers and group leaders are getting ready for the Midnight Rodeo that will begin right after the dance. Suddenly, you see Cal and Lucy hitching a saddle to a beautiful horse. You hide behind a stall door and eavesdrop.
“It’s been fun training with you for the rodeo,” says Lucy. “We’ve spent so much time together that my own mother thinks I have a crush on you!”
“That’s crazy,” laughs Cal. “Everybody knows that you only hang around me because you’re sweet on my buddy Luke. As for me, I like someone too, and I think she got the wrong idea when she tried to ask me to the dance last night. I was trying to explain that I had to skip the dance to get ready for the rodeo with you, but I didn’t get to finish.”
“Why don’t you head over to the dance and tell her how you feel,” says Lucy. “I’ll handle things here until the Rodeo starts.”
“Thanks, “ says Cal as he heads for the stable door.
Holy Cow! Cal likes you! You rush out the opposite door and run towards the dance hall so you can be there when he shows up!
