What I enjoy about bull riding is the fun and all the new people that I get to meet every year. I also enjoy the money that I make, but then again everyone enjoys money. I like the big rodeos and the big bull ridings because they always pay the best and I like the challenge of trying to better the rankest bulls. I enjoy almost every aspect of bull riding but these are the two reasons I enjoy it the most.
I was born into a family of rodeo people. I have been around it all of my life and watched it all of my life. That's part of what attracted me to bull riding. The other part is I just thought people would think that I was tough, because when I was a little kid watching those bull riders, I thought, wow, those guys are tough—so I think I want to be one of those people.
I used to love going to rodeos and watching my Dad get on bulls. I was so happy when he rode one. I just grew up around it and know a lot about it so I just love to do it. I like to be the best at what I do. Everyone likes to be the best at what they do in every sport in the world. To be the best, I will have to practice and keep going and learn new things before I can be the best. Also, the other riders keep me trying harder because the better they are, the better I want to be. So I try harder to get to their level and ride to their ability. I like to ride; that's another reason I keep trying hard.
In the future I would like to be riding in the big ranks, the PBR. That would be the ultimate goal in bull riding for me. I would love to be there, riding for the big bucks and against the big boys like Chris Shivers and Justin McBride. That is the only goal I am looking at achieving right now.
If a kid was interested in bull riding I would tell him: don't quit, try hard and do the best you can. Also, I would tell him practice makes perfect, so keep going, and that he would do good if he keeps trying. That is the main thing, keep trying.
