The boy´s father lifted the soaking, wet child off of Tusker´s tusk and wrapped him in dry seal skins. He promised, "No longer will I kill Norwhals to eat their muktuk because this one saved my son!" Later the mother found an ivory tusk in the parka. She gave it to the granddfather, a shaman spirit leader, and he desined a lucky talisman for the boy´s neck.
