Simon’s BookLanguage: English | |
Doodles come to “monstrous” life in this book, as Simon flees from a monster with the help of one of his drawing pens. LeVar takes viewers into the studio of the author of Simon’s Book, Henrik Drescher, to find out how he came up with the idea for his book and to look at the original illustrations. LeVar then visits the printing plant to watch as a book is printed, pages are cut to size, and the book is bound. |
Here are activities to do after watching this episode: |

Share-a-DoodleSit around the kitchen table and have some family fun doodling! You will need:
|
A Book of Our OwnIf possible, take a family field trip to a local printer to see the process of how a book, a newspaper, or brochures are printed. If you have a special printing program with your computer, brainstorm, write, edit, and print a book of your own that tells about a family experience you have had. An alternative is to write and print the story on the computer, print out the text, and glue it in a blank book where one or more family members can illustrate the story. This book would make a great gift for a relative who lives far away. |
