Alistair is on his way to return his books when he is captured in a spaceship by two creatures called Goots. In the video about this book, LeVar takes viewers to the Library of Congress and other places that store collections.

Here are activities to do after watching this episode:

Stars in a Box

Have your children make a diorama of the nighttime sky.

You will need:

empty box such as a shoe box
black construction paper
foil
star stickers
glue
scissors

Line the inside of a box with black construction paper.
Cut a moon shape from foil and glue it inside the box.
Place the star stickers inside the box to represent the nighttime sky you see out of your window, or place the stars to form a favorite constellation, such as the Big Dipper.

Visit your Community Library!

LeVar takes viewers to the Library of Congress. Plan a trip to a library close to you? Look at all of the children’s books when you are there. Maybe you could find some of these books to check out for a few days.

SPACE STATIONS

What do you suppose a space station would look like? Gather some odds and ends of material your parents will let you use to create your own space station.

Items you may want to use:

small boxes, sacks, foil, shiny paper
straws, string, thread, yarn
fabric and paper scraps
markers and crayons
scissors and glue
