The Robbery At The Diamond Dog Diner

Language: English

Lola Dog doesn’t wear her usual diamonds at the Diamond Dog Diner after she hears there are jewel thieves in town. She however doesn’t take into account Gloria Feathers’ loud talk about where Lola has hidden her jewels. LeVar goes behind the grill at Rosie’s Diner and gets a lesson on becoming a short-order cook. Viewers will also visit a gourmet pasta maker and watch as he makes tortellini, linguine, and other pasta.

Here are activities to do after watching this episode:

Jewels from the Kitchen

Supervise your children as they make their own jewelry, compliments of your kitchen!

You will need:

  • ¾ cup flour
  • ½ cup salt
  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • warm water
  • toothpicks
  • paint and brushes
  • yarn, string, or cord

1. Have your child measure and mix together the dry ingredients.
2. Supervise as warm water is gradually added until the mixture can be kneaded into shapes.
3. Beads can be made by rolling the dough into small balls and piercing the balls through the center with a toothpick. Make certain the holes are large enough for yarn or string to pass through later.
4. Allow the beads to dry overnight.
5. Paint and then string the beads to make bracelets and necklaces.

Wagon-Wheel Pasta

The next time your family plans a bike hike, take along lunch. One dish for your picnic basket can be Wagon Wheel Salad.

You will need:

  • 1 pound wagon-wheel shaped pasta, cooked
  • 2 carrots peeled and sliced thin
  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • vinaigrette salad dressing

Toss the ingredients. Put it in a plastic container. Pack the salad and other picnic foods in a basket, and off you go!

Blueplate Special

Has your family ever gone to a diner and ordered the “blue-plate special”? This is a special meal for the day. Just for fun, have your children make their own artistic blueplate specials.

You will need:

  • paper plates
  • crayons
  • magazine cutouts of food
  • glue
  • plastic forks
  • tape
  1. Color the paper plate with a blue crayon. (If you would rather paint it blue, that would be great too.)
  2. Cut out pictures of favorite foods from magazines or draw and color your own pictures. Glue the food pictures onto the blue plate. Finally glue or tape the plastic fork to the plate.
Discuss food likes and dislikes with the family as you share your blueplate specials!
