The Lady With The Ship On Her Head

Language: English

Madame Pompenstance competes for the Best Headdress Award at the Fancy Dress Ball, unaware that a small ship has sailed onto her head and has become her headdress. In this episode, LeVar becomes anchor of a weird and wacky news report, Headline News—all the news from the neck up! It promotes the video theme that silly situations are entertaining and fun. Viewers visit the biggest barbershop in the world to see some wonderfully strange hairdos being created. They also get a sneak preview of a music video.

Here are activities to do after watching this episode:

Ships Good Enough to Eat

You will need:

  • orange slices
  • soft cookies (such as Fig, Apple, or Strawberry Newtons)
  • toothpicks

Pass a toothpick through a cookie and into an orange wedge. Attach two cookies per wedge to resemble a ship with sails.

Link Necklace

Madame certainly needs some jewelry to go with that great hat she is wearing!
You will need:

  • paper clips
  • various colors of tape 1” wide

Directions:
Link paper clips together to make a necklace, bracelet, headband, belt, or whatever. Wrap pieces of colored tape around the clips to create different designs and patterns. Great to use when playing!

Your very OWN hat! Be just like

Madame with a special hat all your own.
You will need:

  • newspaper
  • scraps of construction paper, fabric, etc.
  • stapler, tape, and glue
  • pipe cleaners, yarn, string, feathers, beads, sequins, stickers

Directions:

  1. Start with a sheet of newspaper. You will need two pages with a folded middle.
  2. Fold the outer edges down to form a point at the top center.
  3. Fold the bottom flap up to meet the edge of each triangle. Then fold it up again over the edge.
  4. Turn over and do the same with the other side.
  5. Now you have your hat. Decorate it any way you wish.
