Regina’s Big Mistake

Regina is so afraid of making a mistake on her art project that she won’t even pick up a crayon to get started. This episode explores some of the ways that artists express themselves through their work and takes a look at the creative process.

Here are activities to do after watching this episode:

Make Clay Creatures

Peanut Butter Clay

  • 1 c creamy peanut butter
  • 1 1/2 c instant powdered milk
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • peanuts, raisins, chocolate chips and/or coconut

Stir peanut butter, powdered milk and honey together in a medium-size bowl until dough is smooth. If it’s dry add more honey; it it’s too moist add more powdered milk.

Kids can form the mixture into a creature of their choice. They can use the peanuts, raisins, etc., for features.

  

Make a Squiggle Drawing

On a piece of scrap paper put a shape or squiggle line. Have your child create a picture using this as part of their drawing.

Color the picture with crayon, markers or shade it using the side of a lead pencil.

Make Tasty Finger Paints

What you will need:

  • 1 box instant pudding
  • 1 cup milk
  • Waxed paper
  1. Prepare pudding according to package directions.
  2. Put a large spoon full of pudding on some waxed paper.
  3. Create a picture with pudding. It’s just like using fingerpaints — only this is finger-licking fun!
