Max

Language: English

Max is the son of superhero parents who is destined to be a superhero – that is, once he learns to fly. However, when he’s faced with an emergency, Max’s soaring abilities are brought to life – unleashing the hero within. LeVar spends the day at a firehouse, and learns what inspires firefighters. We also follow Wildlife Rescue Center of the Hamptons as they rescue, rehabilitate and release an injured goose. Finally, through an upbeat song, we celebrate the heroes that surround us every day.

Here are activities to do after watching this episode:

I’m a Superhero!

Help your children write a “Superhero” story of their own. If they were a superhero, what would their special power be? What good things would they do with their superpower? Be sure to include a picture of your Superhero!

Make a Heroes Scrapbook

Together with your child look through newspapers and magazines to find articles or pictures about heroic deeds. Such examples might include a class collecting items for a local food bank, a school volunteer, workers who help flood victims, or firefighters battling a fire. Start a collection of these articles and pictures. You can then make them into a “Heroes Scrapbook”. Talk with your child about why these people are considered “Everyday Heroes”. Perhaps your family could write a letter to the newspaper and publicly thank a particular person or group for helping others.

It’s All In The Stars!

Cut paper in the shape of a star. (Thicker paper such as construction paper works the best.) Write the name of an “Everyday Hero” on one side. Write the reason why he or she is considered a hero on the other side. Send the star to your hero or hang it in your room. You could make a mobile using several stars by hanging them from a wire hanger with string or yarn cut at different lengths

Take a Family Fieldtrip

Take a family fieldtrip to a neighborhood fire station. Ask the fire fighters to show you their trucks, equipment, and living quarters. When you get home draw a picture of your favorite thing you saw at the fire station. Remember to write them a thank you note for the tour!
