Old Book FriendsVisit the public library together as a family, and check out some old book friends (books family members are familiar with and/or have checked out many times before because they enjoy them). Give everyone a chance to share their favorite parts of the books and talk about why they like them. Special FriendsHelp your child make connections with an older neighborhood or family member. They can spend the time together by reading with them, walking their pet or running an errand, taking them a snack or treat, inviting them to a school event, drawing a picture or making a gift for them, asking them to tell stories about when they were young, playing a game or working a puzzle together. |
Making Family MemoriesMake a picture or photo story of someone in the family teaching another person how to do something -- perhaps cooking a favorite recipe, making a craft, building something out of clay, playing a musical instrument, dancing, sewing or needlework art, jumping rope.
