While my mother was finishing her Master's Degree at the University of Arizona, I was a first-grader that was watched by our elderly neighbors, and Mr. Rogers was my companion. He taught me so much, and memories of his show bring back very peaceful memories of happier and simpler days of childhood. At first I didn't know who to chose, so my teacher suggested looking at all the people who had been given the Presidential Medal of Freedom. I did and I saw Fred Rogers on the list. After reading what the site had to say my mind was made up. Over the past two weeks I have been reading this site and looking at all the things it had to say in order to write my essay. The other day I came to the "Remembering Fred Rogers" page and cried. I had no idea he had made such an impact on the world. I am so pleased for choosing this man to do my biography on, he has made such an impact on the world it is almost unbelieveable. All the other kids in my class did people like Anne Frank or Hellen Keller, I strongly feel like I chose the best person to do and am grateful for all the things Mr. Rogers has done for the world.
