In China, your birthday isn't just
celebrated on the day you were
born. It's also celebrated during
the most important festival of the
year -- Chinese New Year!

In Chinese tradition, the New Year
is a time of new beginnings.
Families clean, give gifts,
buy new clothes,
prepare elaborate meals,
have dragon boat races,
lion dances, and fireworks.

The seventh day of the celebration
is generally known as Yan Yat
or "Everybody's Birthday." On this day
everyone becomes a year older!
