Back to Stories Have you ever been in a show when something went wrong? What happened? How did you deal with it?
One time we did a play for our old people in the retirement homes and I forgot my lines. It was so embarassing.

-Jazzmine, age 15

Once, my brother and I were both in the same musical. On opening night everyone was nervous and we all stood outside the door to the auditorium listening to the buzz of the excited audience. Then the music started to play. We'd never that music before but the director came out and told us that as soon as the music was over, then the music for our opening number would play, and that's when we'd run onstage and start the show. After a moment my brother said, "I have to use the bathroom." Soon everyone in our cast was saying, "I have to use the bathroom, too!" I did too, but we couldn't go to the bathroom yet, we weren't sure how long the music was. What if we were all in the bathroom when we were supposed to be onstage. So we waited it out. The music kept on playing and playing, and everyone in the cast started jumping on the stage, they really had to go. "Listen," I said. "It's our music!" It was our music, we rejoiced and ran onto the stage. As soon as the opening number was over we all ran offstage and headed straight to the bathroom. Well, not all of us. My brother was the only one who had a scene right after the music number. I wonder if he ever made it...
