Meet Ione Vargus

2 What's the longest-running family reunion?

The family of William Still holds the oldest continuing African American reunion. After the Civil War, William and James Still were done with all their fighting to get people out of slavery. James gathered all his brothers and sisters. They had a glass of wine. He told them that he never thought he'd see the end of slavery. He said, "Every year, we're going to meet again."
