Welcome to the Macintosh version download page. Follow these simple instructions to get your free copy of Grow a Tree.

Download Grow a Tree for Macintosh

The file size of Grow a Tree is 1 megabyte. Be prepared for a long download time if your connection to the Internet is slow.

To run Grow a Tree, your Macintosh should be running MacOS 9.2.1 or later, have at least100 megabytes of free hard disk space, and 256 megabytes of RAM.

Installation Instructions

  1. If you haven't yet done so, download Grow a Tree.
  2. Find the file you downloaded (tree.sit), and double-click to uncompress it. It will be located either on the Mac desktop or within the folder assigned by your browser to accept downloads. If you have trouble finding the file, use the "Find" command (under the File menu item). Search for "tree.sit".
  3. After installation is complete, find the folder "Family Tree", and open it, then double click "Grow a Tree" to start building your family tree.

If you can only find a file named "tree.sit", you will need Stuffit Expander to unstuff the file.

Grow a Tree is a stand-alone application. Once it has been downloaded onto your computer, you will not need your Internet browser or even an Internet connection to run the application.
