Icon This beautiful town in upstate New York is best known for its horse racing track. But over four hundred years ago, French explorers traveled here to find the area's mineral springs and geysers. They had heard that the water flowing from these sources could heal the sick. By the late 1800's, Saratoga had become the vacation spot of choice for America's rich and powerful, who came to drink and bathe in the springs. Today, Saratoga Springs is celebrated as a center for the arts, for its historic old homes, and, of course, for some of the best horse racing in the world.
