Icon Seventy-three years ago, the Grand Ole Opry opened its doors to country music performances in Nashville, Tennessee. In 1972, Opryland USA became its own smash hit. More than 2 million visitors a year visited this theme park, which featured 20 rides--like the 3-D Chaos Coaster, and the Screamin' Delta Demon--and live performances by some of America's best musicians. Opry Mills, a mega-entertainment mall, is now being built to take Opryland's place. It will open in the year 2000.
