Icon Everything is BIG in Texas, including the Six Flags Over Texas theme park in Arlington. The park is named after the six different national flags that have flown over Texas in the state's history--Spain, France, Mexico, the Republic of Texas, the Confederate States of America, and the United States of America. Starting with just ten rides in 1961, it now boasts over 100 thrill and water rides, stage shows, and other attractions. Over 80 million visitors have enjoyed Six Flags's thrills and fun in its 35 year history. But you don't have to go to Texas for Six Flags fun. There are now seventeen Six Flags amusement parks throughout the U.S.
