Icon In the early 1950s movie-maker Walt Disney had a dream: to create "The Happiest Place on Earth." In 1955 his dream came true -- DISNEYLAND Park opened for business in Anaheim, California. Soon, it became the largest theme park in the world. Over 250 million people have visited the Magic Kingdom since then to walk down Main Street U.S.A., tour Sleeping Beauty Castle, or shake hands with Mickey Mouse. Today, the Disney empire also includes Disney's other resort parks -- WALT DISNEY World Resort in Florida, and DISNEYLAND in Paris, France.
