A pendul-what?

Pendulum: (n) from the Latin word 'pendulus,' which means 'hanging.' 1. A pendulum is made by hanging an object from something else. 2. When you pull a pendulum to one side and let go, it swings back and forth. You can find pendulums in grandfather clocks. Illustration of a grandfather clock.
Pendulums are used to keep time because they take the same amount of time to make every swing.
