More fizzy fun and games: build a submarine that will sink and come back to the surface.
Materials
  • small soda bottle
  • marbles
  • baking soda
  • vinegar

Instructions

1. Using a small soda bottle, marbles, and baking soda and vinegar, build a submarine that will sink and come back to the surface. The one that does this the fastest wins.

2. By the way, you can't touch the submarine once you put it in the water, but you can leave part of the submarine at the bottom of the water.

Instead of squezing the air out of my bottle I attached a balloon on top of the bottle and I used fishing waits and marbles to sink it.

We made a submarine with a two liter bottle and pen cap weighted with a ball of clay. It worked great!

The submarine race experiment worked well a couple of times. That time I put vinegar on the bottom and and baking soda at the top. I was suprised that you needed so many marbles, almost about 75 or so. It did not work other times.
