Supplies

  • 2 small plastic bottles with caps (we used quart-sized milk bottles and took their wrappers off)
  • Elbow macaroni, uncooked
  • Colored construction paper
  • Packing tape or any strong tape
  • Safety scissors

Instructions

  1. With the help of a grown-up, children can use safety scissors to cut out four strips, four red leaves, or any other decorative shapes that you would like to have on your maracas.
  2. Glue one strip to the top and one strip to the bottom of the thick part of each bottle.
  3. Glue two leaves or your other decorations to each of the bottles.
  4. Put enough elbow macaroni inside bottles so that it makes a maraca sound when it shakes.
  5. Put the caps on the bottles and tape them shut.
  6. Shake your new maracas everywhere you go!
