Ingredients

  • 4 apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • ½ tsp. clear vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp. ground cloves
  • ½ tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. sugar

Supplies

  • Apple peeler
  • Baking sheet
  • Cutting board
  • Knife
  • Measuring spoons
  • Parchment baking paper
  • Serving dish
  • Tongs
  • Zip-close gallon size plastic bag

Directions

  1. Start by measuring out all ingredients and setting out in small bowls to make it easier for Sproutlets to do most of the work independently! Recipes that they can make themselves are always the tastiest!
  2. Preheat oven to 225 degrees.
  3. A grown-up Sprout should peel, core, and slice the apples. Children can place apple slices into the baggy, then add all of the ingredients to the plastic bag, in any order they like, distributing as evenly as possible over the apples. Seal bag with the air pushed out of it and your Sproutlets can mix everything together from the outside of the bag using nothing but their hands!
  4. Lay parchment on baking sheet, spread apples in a single layer and sprinkle with a tiny bit of sugar, just enough to add a touch of sparkle!
  5. Next, an adult should do the baking and flipping. Bake apple slices at 225 degrees for one hour until golden brown then use tongs to flip the slices and bake an additional 30 minutes. Cool completely, serve, and nibble away on Lucy’s Half-Moon Harvest Apple Chips while enjoying the Good Night Show!
  6. The finished apples will be the consistency of fruit leather.
