What are your favorite books? Paige Turner enjoys these:
Olivia by Ian Falconer
Olivia is good at many things: singing loud songs, building spectacular sand castles, and wearing people out. This Caldecott honor book is a great story to share with preschool children.
Sam and the Tigers by Julius Lester
A lively new telling of the Little Black Sambo story by Julius Lester and Jerry Pickney presenting Sam as an imaginative, resourceful hero. This ALA notable book will particularly appeal to children in kindergarten and first grade.
Red Light, Green Light, Mama and Me by Cari Best
This story takes place in my favorite place, the library. A young girl accompanies her mother to the library. She meets her mother's co-workers, stamps some cards, and plays the role of the Big Bad Wolf during storytime.
The Hidden Stairs and the Magic Carpet By Tony Abbott
Follow the adventures of three children in the hidden world of Droon. For Harry Potter fans, the Secret of Droon books are a great find. This is the first in the series. I recommend it especially to children in grades 2-4.
