Postcards From You

Postcards From You!

Hey! Buster and Arthur here. Would you like to see yourself on TV or the Web? Well, here's your chance to send us YOUR video postcard. Arthur and I want to learn about your world. What's it like to be you?

Here's What We're Looking For

We want one-minute videos that you film and edit. Your movie can be about anything you'd like to share! Maybe it's your family, your friends, your hobby, your pet, or your neighborhood. Maybe it's a one-minute mystery or comedy, or an animation. Whatever it is, we'll choose some of your postcards to appear on the Arthur TV show! Others will be shown on this Web site.

If you'd like to send us something, make sure you follow the official Rules. If you want some pointers on how to make a good video, take a look at our Video Tips. And if you have questions, make sure to visit our Frequently Asked Questions area.

We're really looking forward to seeing what you send in!

Learn the Dos and Don'ts of Making a Video

Before you do any filming, read my video tips. They'll help you make the best postcard you can!

Print Out the Personal Release Forms

Download the release form for kids (PDF) and the release form for adults (PDF) as needed. (You'll need the free Adobe Reader to view and print PDF files.) To give us the right to show your video postcard, you need to make sure every identifiable person in your movie signs one or gets a parent or guardian to sign it. The easiest thing to do is to take a bunch of forms with you whenever you shoot, and collect signatures right then and there. (On each release form, please provide a visual description of that person so we know who's who in your video.)

When you're preparing to send in your Postcard from You, make sure to do the following:

  • Your video postcard must be in DV format, otherwise we won't be able to use it. Please send us the .dv file on a data CD or data DVD. Here are the exact details: .dv format, 720x480, 2 channel, 16 bit, 48 kHz. If you don't know what all that means, see if you can find a grownup who does. Otherwise, use the standard DV settings in your video editing program and that should be right.
  • Your video postcard must be 1 minute in length.
  • If you'd like, you can submit more than one video postcard. Submit them on a data CD or data DVD with each video in a separate .dv file.
  • The timestamp option must be off. Video with a date and time stamped on it cannot be used.
  • You must include the completed Postcards From You entry form (PDF).
  • You must include a release form for everyone in your movie (PDF links above).
  • If your postcard is not in English, please include a written English translation so we can provide captions.
  • Please show no logos or trademarked names in your video. Make sure you can't see any logos, brand names, or other images that are trademarked or copyrighted (such as the Nike® Swoosh or your favorite professional sports team logo).
  • If you want to use music in your postcard, send in TWO versions of your postcard — one with music, and one without — in case we can't get the rights to the music.
  • Remember, these video postcards are for kids, so keep them G-rated. (No violence, bad language, bad behavior.)

Fill Out the Postcards From You Entry Form

Download the entry form (PDF), fill it out, and include it with your movie. The entry form also includes a helpful checklist to make sure you don't forget anything.
