Stephan perfoms a traditional Arapaho Grass Dance.
Watch Postcards from Buster on PBS Kids GO!
BUSTER: Haba, Stephan. Are you ready to dance?
STEPHAN: You'll finally see me.
BUSTER: What dance are you going to do?
STEPHAN: Grass Dance.
BUSTER: I thought so. It's your specialty. Great outfit.
CARLOS: Hey, Buster, I think we're ready to start.
BUSTER: Where are all the dancers?
CARLOS: The drummers are calling them to the dance.
BUSTER: Look at the two big bustles on the back of his outfit. That must mean he's a Fancy Dancer.
CARLOS: How do you know that?
BUSTER: Caleb told me. It looks cool when they do the turns.
CARLOS: There's Stephan. He's doing the Grass Dance. It's one of the oldest dances around.
BUSTER: So why is it called the Grass Dance?
CARLOS: Watch his feet. Grass Dance is about stomping down the tall buffalo grass to make a clearing for a camp before a ceremony.
BUSTER: Oh, so that's why he's stomping the ground.
