SciWorks is found in Winston-Salem, which is in the middle of North Carolina, close to its norther border.
SciWorks includes indoor science exhibits, a planetarium, an outdoor environmental park, and plenty of nature trails. Indoors, look for exhibits on health, biology, physics, sound, and the geology, botany, and wildlife of North Carolina. Outdoors, the museum's 15-acre Environmental Park is home to white-tailed deer, wild ducks, and river otters, as well as bog, herb, and native plant gardens that attract wild visitors. In the barnyard, you'll see a miniature horse, donkeys, goats, sheep, and cows.
SciWorks runs summer (and winter!) science camps, with cool class topics such as: Space Odyssey, Forensics Fun, Animal Superlatives, and Habitat Is Where It's At. Scouts can also enjoy sleepovers that feature activities pertaining to scout requirements, and a chance to view a planetarium show or participate in a Science Discovery program.
SciWorks makes its home online at: www.sciworks.org.
