Perception
We're Maddy and Martina. We think that the human brain is the most fascinating "machine" of all. We're especially curious about what humans remember when their minds are focused on conversations or activities. Our question: How well can people pay attention to two things at once?
How would you investigate this question?
Come up with a plan where your "subjects" have to pay close attention to one thing they are doing (listening to music, watching tv, playing a game), and then sneak in a distraction without telling them it's coming. Will they stay focused on the main task, or will they switch their attention to the distraction, or keep attention on both? Come up with an interview strategy to figure out just what your subjects saw, or remember seeing. Describe your investigation in your notebook and discuss it with your teacher, or go to Perception to see what Maddy and Martina discovered.
