How do I become a FETCH! contestant?

To try out for FETCH!, kids need to be between the ages of 9 and 13 and be able to live in the greater Boston area over the summer. Because FETCH! is taped not just during the summer, but also during school vacations and over a few weekends during the school year, FETCHers also need to be able to film on weekends and during school vacations without missing school to get there. The next auditions will be held in Boston sometime next winter. While we don't have a mailing list for audition information, we'll be sure to announce the auditions in the Scoop on the FETCH! Web site.

.....................................................

Are the FETCH! contestants off by themselves or do their parents come with them?

The kids are doing the challenges entirely on their own, but they are supervised by adults at all times.

What's the G Team?

At G Team Central (the hip nickname for Studio G) kids sign up and become members of the G Team. Joining the G Team is absolutely free! Members can earn points, win prizes, receive messages from Ruff, and customize their experiences on the site. Once logged in, members can travel the site with their own canine or cat companion, a personal greeting from Ruff, and a tally of their total points earned from playing games. Every day the top 5 scorers (and their scores) for each game will be listed. Members can play any game more than once, and their top scores are saved. That means if you play a game the first time and get a score of 900 points, and you play it later but only score 700 points, we'll keep your score of 900 on record without adding the 700 you just earned. So, your highest score is recorded, not the sum of all your scores for that game The higher your total score, the more prizes you can unlock.

For most games, the maximum points that can be earned is 1,000. The Daily Challenge science quiz is different. If members answer the daily question, they will have the chance to earn ten points each day. Sounds like small potatoes, but that adds up!

We mentioned that members also get to take an animal companion with them throughout the site. At anytime they can choose a new cat or dog to accompany them.

Best of all, member benefits extend to other participating PBS KIDS GO! sites. That means scores and canine companions travel with you!

Why aren't my Prize Points changing?

Your "Prize Points" score does NOT change every time you play a game. Here at FETCH! we only track your best scores and add them toward your Prize Points. So each time you play a game, your Prize Points will only increase if you score better than your previous best score for that game. We pride ourselves on recognizing the best in everyone and that means focusing on your best performances and your best scores.

Why is the sky blue?

The sun is a very bright source of light. The light passes through atoms of nitrogen and oxygen, the gases that make up most of the air in the atmosphere. As it passes through, the light scatters and the blue part of the sunlight scatters most. At sunset, however, as the sun sets over the horizon the blue light is not in our line of sight, and we see other colors that make up sunlight. These can paint the sky red and orange.
