Show 17: The People vs. Grandma Ruffman

Grandma's in jail! She's been accused of trying to break Scruff out of prison by baking a metal file into her cake. But Ruff knew just what to do. He put DJ and Harsha on the defense team. He had Sammy and Jay work with a forensic chemist. And he had Sam and Noël join the prosecution.

The FETCHers all met with the lawyers and got their assignments. They sorted through the evidence, found all the facts, and planned their strategies. Then they all met up in court on the day of the trial. They made their cases, called their witnesses, cross-examined them, and made their closing statements. And the jury found Grandma Ruffman not guilty! What a relief, she's off the hook. Turned out the evidence pointed towards Scruff's girlfriend instead.

After the trial, the FETCHers convened back at Studio G and it was time for the Triumph Tally results:

DJ and Harsha scored:

• 80 points: For showing the jury reasonable doubt that freed Grandma

Sammy and Jay scored:

• 80 points: For investigating the evidence and reporting their findings

Sam and Noël scored:

• 80 points: For representing the state with dignity even though they were prosecuting Grandma

BUT: "Is that all the points a dog can give?"

Harsha earned herself 5 bonus points by delivering a blistering cross examination rendering the witness (Jay) speechless. Her prize was her very own law suit — get it? An actual suit!
