Underwater Racing Game
In this game, the user helps steer George through a race with Goldie the Goldfish. The game encourages the user to help speed George past the Gold fish, using green bubbles to speed him up and by avoiding the red bubbles, which will slow him down. Other skills learned in this game include mouse control, visual discrimination, and goal orientation.
Find George Game
The chaos of this bedroom provides many hiding place for George, whose size allows him to hide almost anywhere. In order to complete the task of locating George, youngsters must utilize the following skills: Critical thinking, environment awareness and observation, maximization of resources such as the magnifying glass to search, and fine motor skills to maneuver the magnifying glass with the computer mouse.
Modeling Dough
Provides an excellent opportunity for parents to spend quality time with their children when making the dough, while providing the youngsters with a tool/medium that will introduce them to: Skills associated with baking (for the preparation of the dough), three-dimensional modeling, and imaginary play.
Colouring Pages and On-Line Colouring
The skill associated with coloring and its contribution to development often go unnoticed by parents. However, coloring actually requires the utilization of an extensive skills set, including the following: Extensive use of fine motor skills for detailed work, ability to maneuver a mouse with a high level of precision, color recognition, shape recognition, logical reasoning necessary for attributing logical color schemes to appropriate places i.e. red lips instead of green ones; green grass instead of purple.
Computer coloring increases the level of difficulty associated with coloring. This is related to the increased fine motor skill development necessary for the level of mouse control required
'Learn to Draw' and 'Finish the Picture' Pages:
These printable activities teach children how to draw. They encourage children to mimic an image they see by recreating it. These activities promote drawing skills and creativity.
Memory Quest:
This concentration game encourages children to find the matching pictures. This activity promotes matching skills, memory, and concentration.
Quiz Activity:
This activity teaches kids to match images together that make sense. A question posed prompts the child to chose which image is the most appropriate match. This game teaches children matching skills, and logical reasoning.
Connect the dots Activity:
This activity poses a question to the child, and has them reveal the answer by connecting the dots and spelling out a word. When the word is spelled correctly, the answer is presented as a visual picture. Playing this game, the child will use their skills in critical thinking and spelling.
George's Great Adventures:
The user gets to determine the outcome of a story, represented by images. Each time the user plays, a different outcome is possible. This activity promotes decision-making, and creativity.
