"I wouldn't do it cause it can give u problems with your lungs and u can die from it!!!"
--Laci, 11

"I just say no. If it were a friend I'd do it the same way. Smoking is smoking either way, GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
--Summer, 11

"I can't stand it! My parents, big sister, and most of my family smoke. I wish it were against the law like what Keith said. My little sister Kayla and I, EACH DAY BEG OUR PARENTS TO STOP, but nothing helps. I'm sick and tired of breathing in the smoke. I'm worried that I will get really seriously sick someday. My grandmother almost died from smoking and she was in the hospital over two months. PLEASE DO NOT SMOKE! IT WILL DAMAGE YOUR BODY!"
--Kelly, 10

"Somebody did offer me a cigarette and I ran from them and told an adult and she was expelled. We are not friends anymore. SMOKING TAKES 8 MINUTES AWAY FROM YOUR LIFE EVERY TIME YOU SMOKE A CIGARETTE!"
--Rachel, 10

"Well I'd probably say to buzz off and leave me alone. They say smoking takes off 7 minutes of your life and I would run away!"
--Saya , 10

"I think smoking is bad for me so I don't do it. I would tell my friend to not smoke or you will die."
--Jasmine, 11

"Sometimes I feel scared. My mom smokes and the smoke bothers me a lot. It smells bad. I wish she could stop."
--Ariel, 10

"My grandparents, mom, my friend who is 13, and my cousin who is 15 all smoke. I wouldn't smoke because I have plans for my life and I'm stick'n to them."
--Miranda, 11

"I would say no thank you."
--Stephanie, 9

"I don't want to smoke but everyone says it's cool and my friend said that I was a baby, so I tried it. NEVER SMOKE!!!"
--Natalie, 11

"I don't care. My sister smokes all the time."
--Link, 9

"I was very mad when I read that this kid wants to try to smoke just 'cause she thinks his or her friend will tease him or her. I would just tell that kid to stop and if that kid does not, then I would break our friendship up. When you have friends you always have to help them and keep them."
--Sarah, 12

"I would never smoke. I think you should open a center for no smoking. Like a school Don't Smoke program."
--Yvonne, 10

"I just found out that two of my really good friends smoke! They both have changed over the summer and I am kind of distancing myself from them, but I still want to tell them how I feel about them smoking! I know I cant make them stop, but I need help on giving them information on what it does to their bodies!"
--Sarah, 12

"Smoking sucks. I don't know why anyone would want to do it. You're only killing yourself. If you decide to do it, it should be your choice and if u do do it, don't pressure anyone else to do it. Plus it turns your lungs all black and crispy!! EWWWWWWWWWW!"
--Megan, 11

"I know a lot of people who smoke and even people my age. Should I tell them that they have offered me a cigarette?"
--Lindsay, 10

"I think that smoking is bad news. My mom & my step-dad smoke cigarettes but if anybody ever asked me if I wanted to, I would either say no politely or run off and tell an adult."
--Brooklyn, 11

"If someone offered me a cigarette I would say: 'No thanks, and not to tell you what to do or anything, but I learned in my school that cigarettes have tar in them. The same tar as in the streets. When the smoke gets in your body it goes everywhere in your body and it causes lung cancer, brain cancer, and it can do something to your heart too. When that tar gets in your lungs it will stay there no matter what! I heard not only from school, but also from a kid who said that each pack you smoke takes 5 minutes from your life. Sorry if this annoys you in some way but it is true.' "
--Amy, 10

"If u take drugs u will be sick and also hurt from the drug. If u do, u made a mistake."
--Alison, 10

"First of all, I already knew smoking was dangerous. I feel I can express myself about smoking here. My mom smokes. Every time she lights a cigarette, I gasp for air and hold my breath. I wish my mom wasn't so addicted! I'll never smoke, ever!"
--Renee, 10

"I think that 9 times out of 10, people will start to smoke if people in their household smoke and that people at early age around 13 to 18 will become smokers."
--Courtney, 11

"I think smoking is a dirty habit. My friend is constantly teased because she smells like smoke. She is worried about her parents, but I support her."
--Kate, 9

"I do not need it! I do not smoke!"
--Jade

"I am worried about my grandma. She started smoking right when she was allowed to and I don't want anything bad to happen to her."
--Miranda, 12

"I could say I have a cold if I were scared, or I could tell them I don't want to."
--Aisha, 10

"Someone really has offered me one before and I screamed really loud in their face. 'DO U THINK WE TAKE D.A.R.E JUST CUZ? I MEAN RAT POISON AND CAR EXHAUST ARE IN THEM!' Seriously, I think it is very stupid and cigarettes even have a label that says they can give u cancer and stuff. DUH!"
--Meagan, 12

"I would say, 'No thank you.' "
--Kayleen, 9

"No way Jose"
--Kelly , 9

"Hey whatz up? I used to smoke and I don't any more because I heard a lot of stuff about smoking. I mean, I never thought what could happen to me if I smoked and there is a lot of stuff that can happen to you if you smoke. You could die and there is a lot of other stuff that could happen to you if you smoke, so I ask you to not smoke and take my advice and don't do it."
--Ashley, 12

"I do not like smoking, but my mom smokes and if she doesn't stop she will die. At school we have DARE to stop people from taking drugs."
--Kayla, 10

"If some kid asked me to smoke, I would say, 'No I respect my body as if it were a temple of GOD.'"
--Alex, 9

"I would say no if any one asked me for a cigarette. Even if one of my family members asked me."
--Michelle, 10

"I think that cigarettes should be sold only to people that understand about how unhealthy that it is. They should have to take a picture of someone that does not smoke that is rather close to them and think about 2nd hand smoking and how it would feel like to lose them because of an addicting stick of paper."
--Shelby, 10

"I would probably say (if your family doesn't smoke), 'If they smelled it on me I would be grounded 4 life!' Or/and 'I have asthma' (even if you don't, they won't know and it will keep you outta trouble). Or be like, 'I have to go to the doctor in a couple weeks and if they found out I was smoking I wont be able to try out 4 volleyball."
--Kristina, 13

"There's people in my town that smoke and they are really nice but they smoke. I am very worried. My mom used to smoke but she quit because otherwise my dad wouldn't marry her. I'm really glad she quit! :)"
--Mattie, 12

"I think smoking is not good for you. You shouldn't do it, it's not right. I would run away from someone offering me a cigarette. I do not want to smoke, ever."
--Breandria, 8

"Sometimes young kids smoke. We see them walking back from school."
--Megz, 11

"I think it is really important for kids to say no when someone asks them if they want to smoke. Some people hear what it can do to you and some people don't care but they should care about their health. So it is important to say NO! If someone offered me a cigarette, I would say no because I know what it does to your body. It is not healthy, so don't ask me if I want one because I will always say no. You should make the right choice and stop smoking, because it makes you sick, and crazy. I would always say no because it is not healthy. If everyone stopped smoking it would be a better place for all the newborns and for everyone else. It is hard to ask anyone to stop, but we all have to tell them what it does. Tell them that they can die, have heart problems, and all types of things."
--Valerie, 11

"I think smoking is not cool. People who smoke are wasting their lives and they wish they didn't start. If someone offered me a cigarette I would say, 'No thanks' and walk away. :)"
--Ashley, 12

"Smoking is fine with me…NOT!"
--Kelly

"I honestly believe that smoking is the worst thing ever! I can't even breathe when someone is around me that smokes! I hate the smell! I hope that more people will realize the dangers! Before even trying smoking people should be aware about what may happen if you take that risk! If someone offers you to smoke say no and don't feel pressured! Remember how dangerous it is! If someone is underage you should definitely tell a teacher a parent or other trustworthy adult!"
--Jen, 11

"My dad worked for the Lubbock Regional Council on Alcoholism and drug abuse. He taught so many classes and had so many brochures on smoking. Just thinking about it makes my stomach flip. I read some of those brochures and learned that the same stuff that's in toilet bowl cleaner is in cigarettes! If someone asked me to try one I would turn them down. I wouldn't care if they were my best friends! I prefer not to smoke toilet bowl cleaner and fiber glass!"
--Emily, 12

"I think smoking is very bad. If someone asked me if I wanted a cigarette I'd just flat out tell them no and tell them they should stop too!"
--Melinie, 11

"My step-dad smokes and I am afraid that he is getting my mom addicted and my mom has a bad heart. I am afraid that she will die and my grandma will die and my step dad will leave us alone. Then me and my 2 sisters will be orphans. I need help!!"
--Gabrielle, 11

"First off, I would say no thanks. If they keep pressuring me, I will look around for a teacher. I will walk up to them (hopefully they will follow me) and by the time they notice what I'm getting them into, the teacher will understand what is wrong and they will be in trouble. "
--Courtney, 12

"Well, I've tried smoking before. I hated it. It burned my eyes and it felt like my lungs were on fire. I threw that cigarette down. If somebody asked me if I wanted one, I'd remember what it felt like and walk away."
--Julie, 13

"I'm homeschooled so I don't get asked much about smoking. If someone asked me if I would smoke with them I would say, 'No way, I don' want to die at a young age' in a strong clear voice."
--Christine, 12

"I would say NO and walk away."
--Loriee
