"The way I feel about smoking is that you shouldn't do it. You become a drug addict and then you get very sick. If someone offered me a cigarette I would tell them I'm allergic to it and walk away."
--Kaneisha, 11

"I feel as if people who smoke are ignorant. Smoking can cause cancer and can possibly kill a person. For people who smoke, I hope you make the correct choice and stop because I hate smoke and being around it. I also hate the way smoke smells. I will never smoke in my short, wonderful life. I will not kill myself by smoking."
--Jahnia, 12

"It's so stupid. Why would someone want to do this? Some kids smoke to be cool but they are making one of the stupidest decisions of their life."
--Antoine, 13

"I don't like everybody smoking in my house. My grandma smokes, my mom, my uncle and my aunt and there are three kids in the house. My 2 cousins, one of them is 3 and the other is just 2 and me. I'm 9 so all the kids get second hand smoke."
--Jocelyn, 9

"When someone asks you if you want to smoke and if they are popular and you don't want them to think you're a scaredy cat and that you are a good and nice person, still say no!!! I hope you kids do the same."
--Bria, 10

"I hate smoking it is very bad and I want the government to make it against the law."
--J. D., 9

"A lot of my family smokes. Now my grandpa is in the hospital because of it and I hope he STOPS and gets well soon."
--Aneesa, 11

"Hi, I think that if many people were asked to do drugs they would run away or feel like they have to take them. If you just say no with a straight face and not look at the ground while you say it, they will most likely leave you alone. If you stare at the ground (as if shy) your 'NO' will just make them keep asking you to take the drug, because they think that you are not sure whether to take drugs or not. So if you say no and not, 'Well I am not sure' then you have a better chance that they will stop asking you. My dad smokes and I am not happy but I don't hate him. I just pray that the Lord will help him stop! Will you pray for all the people who smoke?"
--Tamara, 12

"My dad smokes and I get kind of scared. My friend told me he can get cancer and will die. My friend Keya told me this. When he goes outside when I'm playing with my friends we inhale the smell and get really sick and their parents will blame it all on my dad!"
--Jessica, 10

"I would probably just say, 'No thanks' and start walking away slowly, and when they couldn't see me, I would start running. Besides, someone came to our school and told us we could get a hairy tongue!!"
--Becca, 12

"Drugs can do a lot of BAD stuff to you. It's better to walk AWAY. At my school, the 5th graders joined this program called D. A. R. E. It's a program that I think kids should get into to learn about not smoking. Just remember to walk away from drugs."
--Kapi, 9

"I have an auntie who smokes and I am worried that she might get hurt or even worse die. I just wish would will quit soon."
--Erin, 11

"Well I would just say no thank you and I have to go now and go home and talk to my parents about it."
--Caspian, 10

"I hate smoking. If someone offered me a cigarette, I would say no very firmly and I would walk away."
--Alexandrea, 11

"Well, my 20 year old brother smokes and he has permanent asthma so now he coughs A WHOLE LOT! He's tried the patches and the gum but he couldn't quit, he's addicted. I'm not sure what to do now."
--Ben, 12

"Both my mom and dad smoke. I want them to live but I tried thinking of ways I could help but I'm positive they won't work. I mean I've ignored it for a while but that won't make them STOP. But hey, it makes me feel better about the whole situation."
--Brianna, 9

"My grandparents smoke and once in a while my mom does but I also wish it was against the law for every one."
--Alexa, 12

"My mom smokes and I'm worried about her dying when I'm too young to bare it."
--Celena, 10

"I think smoking is bad for you. My mom used to smoke then my dad got into an accident and my mom said that if my dad lived, then she would stop smoking. My dad lived and she stopped. I have a friend that is acting a bit weird lately. I don't know if it is drug related or not, but I am afraid to ask her if she smokes."
--Tessa, 11

"I hate the smell of cigarettes. It makes my lungs hurt and the bad thing is, is that my daddy smokes and when he comes home from work he smells nasty. If anyone asked me if I wanted a cigarette I would say NO and run away as fast as I can. Then I would tell my mommy and daddy."
--Melanie, 8

"My mom has been smoking since before my bro was born. She divorced my dad and has a b/f that smokes too. He lives with us and she has been saying she was going to stop for years."
--Matthew, 10

"I think that anyone that smokes wants to die. If you know someone who has died from smoking, why do you want to do the same things and ruin your life? It also smells terrible and it definitely is not cool."
--Holly, 11

"I would get prepared with 2 little pictures from the internet. A picture of an unhealthy lung (which is disgusting) and a picture of a healthy lung. I would show these 2 pictures and say the reason why I do not want to smoke is because I want my lungs to be healthy and I do not want to have a disgusting lung."
--Nurshafiqah, 11

"If they were my friend, I would say, 'Nah, that's alright. Don't waste them on me.' Or if it was say, somebody I didn't like, I wouldn't be as nice. I'd say something like, 'Ugh, no WAY!'"
--Christina, 12

"I think smoking is really bad and can kill you. My aunt died of cancer from smoking. Smoking is like inhaling drugs. After a while you get addicted, and can't stop. Lots of kids think that if they don't smoke they would lose a friend. They feel pressure. A real friend wouldn't care. DON'T SMOKE AT ALL!!!!!!!"
--Brianna, 11

"I would just say, 'No thanks'. Smoking is really bad for your body, 'cause the smoke makes it hard for your heart to work and also can cause lung cancer and other bad stuff to your body and those around you. Plus it's a bad example for littler kids."
--Amanda, 10

"I would say NO THANK YOU!! AND I think that smoking is polluting our world killing lots of good people! I would also say to that person that you're killing yourself by the minute!"
--Sarah, 10

"Yes someone has offered me a cigarette and I said no because smoking is bad for your health and can kill you. I don't want to die at a young age!"
--Dominique, 11

"If someone offered me a cigar or cigarette, I would turn him or her down! In fifth grade I learned the affects of smoking. A few weeks ago my little brother Jake, who has Cerebral palsy, got an assignment to get a cigarette ad. I felt badly when Jake asked me to help because I thought he might think they were interesting! I am glad that I didn't do this project. I hope my little bro will never smoke and that I won't change my mind! Oh yeah! This one time I remember that this kid offered me a cigarette and I turned it down. I wasn't sure if I should tell. I told his parents about his doing it. He got in trouble but then forgave and thanked me. Now he and I are going out and whenever we're around his friends, he says NO to smoking. I hope Jake never even thinks of smoking, because it would affect his health and he might die. If this happened to Jake I would be upset!"
--Coco

"I don't think smoking is very smart. I mean all you do is inhale smoke! How is that fun? All the people that do it put their lives on the line! You should quit! Hey, it might make someone else quit then another, and another. . . . "
--Raven, 11

"I would definitely turn them down. Smoking isn't cool at all. The thing that is cool is not smoking."
--Lilgirl, 13

"I think kids shouldn't smoke, because it's bad for them. It can kill you easily. My grandfather died of smoking."
--Stephanie, 13

"I think that smoking is just some thing that young kids turn to when they are going through stuff."
--Judy, 13

"I feel that smoking is totally not cool because I heard that many people die each year or get a disease. If someone offered me a cigarette, I would say 'no' because I am not going to risk the rest of my life over a crappy thing that can get you sick. I also think that the companies are just selling the cigarettes to get money and don't care about your life!"
--Renata, 13

"I would say no thanks and that if I wanted to die I would not do it that way."
--Joey, 12

"I would say no thanks, I want to live a long healthy life! I want to live. I don't want to risk my life for doing something really stupid that I don't want to do. If you are going to smoke please do me a favor and think twice!"
--Melanie, 11

"I would say, 'man you're messed up. Why are you smoking? IT'S BAD FOR YOU!' If everyone stopped smoking, I would definitely be happier and feel safer. Just say NO WAY DUDE! THAT IS YOUR DIRTY STICK."
--SABRINA, 12

"Don't smoke around me because I don't like it. It is bad for you to do."
--Joshua, 9
