DAVID MICHEL
Creator & Executive Producer

David Michel is a Dallas-based entrepreneur. He surprised everyone he knew by leaving a lucrative career as a healthcare marketing executive in 1994 to produce a wholesome new video series of role-modeling characters for preschoolers. The genesis of airplane characters arose from David's "million-miler" status flying on business trips and his 3-year-old son's fascination with aviation. Motivated by a desire to provide high quality non-violent entertainment for TV's youngest viewers, Michel poured his life savings into the creation of three JAY JAY THE JET PLANE home videos. His company, WonderWings.com Entertainment, sold thousands of videos directly to consumers and garnered 12 national awards for excellence in children's programming. "A perfect companion for preschoolers," said USA Today. Seven years later, JAY JAY THE JET PLANE premiered on PBS Kids as a daily "Ready to Learn" series. Michel is delighted that the JAY JAY THE JET PLANE series on PBS showcases ground-breaking 3D animation while maintaining the charm and simplicity of the original shows.
