The Maya & Miguel Web site, like the TV show, targets children between 6 and 11 years old. The site is designed to support and extend the educational goals of the Maya & Miguel television program.

Both the site and the television show have been designed to support English language acquisition while promoting the value of a culturally diverse society. The Maya & Miguel Web site gives children the opportunity for open-ended exploration with language-building activities and presents a variety of cultures and perspectives within its activities.

In addition, the Maya & Miguel Web site is designed to fully support children of different levels of English or Spanish language abilities. Nearly all of the content on the site is available in both English and Spanish. Children and their parents can "toggle" between English or Spanish at any point while playing on the site. This structure has been developed to encourage children apply their knowledge of their primary language while learning a second language.

Many of the activities have been designed to promote independent play, but we also expect that for parents and children will have fun experiencing the site together. In addition, we have developed substantial information related to the TV series for parents and teachers (in both English and Spanish).
