Go Green!
Mackenzie, 10, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania
Posted April 16, 2008
At elementary schools around the world kids are going green. At one
elementary school kids are selling Welch's all-natural fruit snacks to help raise money to buy trees to plant in the courtyard. At another school they are walking, biking or carpooling to get to school everyday.
What can you do to go green and help the environment? The three R's: recycle, reuse, reduce. By doing only those three things you can make a difference in your world. If everyone only did one thing a day to help the environment it would make a HUGE difference!
Lets take this one step at a time. How can you recycle? Well, instead of throwing away paper, recycle it. When you do that it means that less trees are being cut down and that means there's more good oxygen to breath. Also you can recycle cans and bottles. Take a step and find out when your recycling truck comes. The more you recycle, the less trash you have. The less trash you have, the less trash dumping areas there will be and that will help the environment.
How can you reuse and reduce? Well if you refill water bottles that's a start. If can conserve you can preserve. Preserve what? The Earth. How can you reduce? Well, take for instance you can not buy what you won't use. I hope you'll take into consideration what I told you about the three R's.
Spring Is Here HOORAY!
Emily, 10, of Greeneville
Posted April 16, 2008
March 19th was the first day of spring! We are getting so close to
summer vacation! (And, I'll be looking forward to middle school!) There are a lot of ways to celebrate spring, so let's go ahead and try some. First and foremost, you could try getting outside more often, instead of being cramped up on a couch or on your bed playing video games, watching television or playing on the computer. Play outside with your friends or family, or ride your bike on a trail. You could even help walk your dogs as often as you can. Exercise is very important, you know.
Another way to welcome spring is to do some spring-cleaning. Go through your old stuff that is maybe too small or you never wear. You could even go through some of your old toys you never play with anymore and have a yard sale to sell them to people who will wear or play with what you no longer use. Maybe you could make some money from the things you have sold to save up and buy new spring clothes or even donate a little to your favorite charity or animal shelter! You can make a big difference by doing little things like these.
Another spring tradition is to plant fresh flowers in your garden of flowerboxes at your house. Watching seeds sprout can also get you thinking about the season.
So, as you can see, there are a lot of ways to celebrate spring coming to Greeneville, and since Spring won't last forever, try to make the most of it by doing some of these things, starting your own spring tradition or anything else that might help you celebrate spring!
Twenty-four Hour Virus Putting People in Bed
Sky, 10, of Phoenix
Posted April 16, 2008
There is a virus going around that, although not fatal, can definitely keep you in bed for at least twelve hours. It has been attacking people for the last month or so, and often when they're on vacation. The worst part about the virus is that there's no cure for it, except for rest and plenty of fruit juice.
The virus is not very bad, but don't eat too much, or your stomach may rebel. It gets especially bad if you eat tuna, turkey, or lettuce when you are sick. Most people told me that they just lied in bed when they were sick.
Well, there you have it. If you get the twenty-four hour virus, rest up and get plenty of fruit juice! This is Sky and I am telling you if you get this virus, follow these instructions:
One: rest up
Two: get plenty of fruit juice
Three: Don't eat turkey, tuna, or lettuce!
Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama?
Lauren, 10, of Adams

Who would be right? You got to think think think! You might want to vote but you can't. How do you think you want the country to be treated? I know we need better presidents and we need people to think about our earth. You know the earth's alive.
I want Hillary Clinton to be the president because girls should be president! No offence boys! We need freedom too! And did you know in the 1800s when they had elections, girls couldn't vote! And in the Constitution it says everyone has the same freedom.
So when you get older remember to vote! It's very important!
Health

Have you worried about health? Well let's just say yes. Most of the common part of growing up is acne. Everyone goes through it. I even have it. Some people have a little, and some people have a lot. 8 in 10 preteens have acne. It is a common thing of the part of growing up. In
fact, 17 million people across US have acne.
Acne comes from blocked pores, which causes acne. There are
all kinds from blackheads to pimples. Everyone tries to hide it. But that is okay. Sometimes you can in fact hide it, but not really. If you want acne to well go away just use these tips that I found out.
1) Wash your face once or twice a day with warm water and
soap or cleanser.
2) Clean your face after PE or going outside.
3) Don't touch your face.
4) Don't pop the pimples.
Don't worry if you have acne. It's very common. If your friends
don't have any, don't worry everyone is going to have it
sooner than you know it.
Snowstorm Muffles the Midwest's Cry for Spring
Lisa, 9, of Duluth, Minnesota
Posted April 16, 2008
A sudden snowstorm that has blanketed a vast majority of Minnesota has kept some people out in the cold. As much as three feet covered the ground on Monday and Wednesday. Many residents feel put out because they must once again delay any spring projects that we have all been anxious to begin.
On Thursday night, blizzard warnings and snow advisories were sent out across the state. Many schools cancelled that night also. All night long, the wind howled and by six pm, the snow was flying. The ground was covered in about half an hour, but the snow and wind kept at it well into the next day. As a parent who is watching her child on a sledding hill on Friday puts it, "I guess the kids like it, so that's
good, but I am not looking forward to having to shovel my
sidewalk today."
However, not everyone is down about the snow. Many kids are out enjoying the fresh layer of the white stuff that we have been seeing for the last couple months. As one soaking snowman maker put it, " I was sad when the snow melted a couple of days ago. But now school is cancelled for a day and we get to play in the snow again!"
So even though some people are embracing this sudden glimpse
of winter, many people are begging for a light at the end of the tunnel of snow and freezing wind. Many people are hoping for a sight of spring.
Gas Prices In Venezuela
Carolina, 10, of Boise
Posted April 16, 2008
Did you know that the gas prices in Venezuela are only $0.19 that is because Venezuela is rich in oil and 35 years ago the oil was only $0.10 and something else is that Venezuela gas prices are cheaper than water. (There is a big difference between the Venezuela gas prices and the North American gas prices) How big is the difference?

Puppies Turn Into Dogs
Kacee, 9, of Texas
Posted April 16, 2008
Puppies do turn to dogs. What is the difference between a dog and a puppy you ask me? Well, you have come to the right place. We are going to learn about a puppy and a dog. We will first start with the
puppy!
What makes a puppy you ask? Well a female dog and a male dog
have to meet first. I bet you now what I mean. Well they HAVE
to meet just to get a baby puppy! The female dog might get up
to 101 puppies!! Well where were we? Oh now I know! The
difference between a dog and a puppy is that puppies are
smaller than dogs. A dog is known to be a parent!
How can you tell it is a female or a male? Well you see you have to look! You have to look at their private parts! Yes I know it is disgusting! You could probably tell by their bark or their looks! Some times I can tell by the bark or look!
Have you ever seen 101 Dalmatians? Well I have. Sometimes I
cannot believe that show! Well I have to help my mom in the
kennel! Well thanks! Bye now!

Today, while inside, nine-year-old Brook and eight-year-old Alisha fought till it was time to go to bed!!! As Brook was playing her WII, Alisha stepped on the game and did that nonstop until her whole face was red and, then blue. Brook got up so fast and smacked Alisha until she was red and, full of tears! Then that's when the match started!!!!
Brook ran. Alisha hopped and ran around the whole house!!! It
was so funny hearing Alisha yelling for help. My brother and me laughed so hard that our bellies started to hurt
That's all for now this Raven coming at you live and goodnight!!!
