WARNING! Global Warming!
Victoria, 12, of Illinois
Posted April 23, 2008
Have you heard? Global warming is the newest topic EVERYWHERE, and it's all happening because of us. Shocking isn't it. We all have polluted it. So what's going to happen and is happening because of global warming? What is the government doing about it? And what can you do to help?
Did you hear about all the hurricanes that have occurred? Do you know why the amount of severe storms are increasing by the year? Well it's all happening because of one particular reason. Global warming. Diseases are spreading. Some that were curable all of a sudden became incurable. If we keep polluting, soon all the continents will be under water. But how is that possible? It will happen like this. We pollute, it gets warmer, the Arctic ice cap melts, the sea level rises, and the water flood into the continents leaving no sign of land. The animals, mammals, and all types of creatures are becoming endangered. Even the poor polar bears are drowning because the ice is melting.
So what's the government doing about this? Well, I'll tell you what, they're not doing a single thing except ignoring it and it's warnings. Out of their stupidness, global warming, will destroy everything. Its amazing that they claim to be so smart and yet are not showing that they are so intelligent by ignoring FACTS that could save our economy and many lives.
Since no government official is making a moves, then we the people have to help. We can inform others. Bike whenever possible because the cars pollute. Try to save as much electricity as possible. Plant trees and recycle. But most importantly spend a lot of time outside and less indoors. We have to prevent Global Warming and the best time to start is right now.
Cell Phones Should Be Allowed in School
Patrick, 11, of Louisville, Kentucky
Posted April 23, 2008
Cell phones should be allowed in school because if you have to stay after school, you can call your parents to tell them when to pick you up from your program, or that they cancelled the program for the day.
At my school we are allowed to have cell phones and keep them in our possession, but we're not allowed to have them out during class. My teacher Mrs. Holloway-Holmes allows this as well.
If we stay after school, we are allowed to have them out because school is out and nobody is there to take them away from us. A couple weeks ago, I was in an Art Class, and I saw almost everybody have their cellphone out. They were calling parents to tell them when to pick them up (6:15 p.m.), the first day. The kids who finished in ESS, had other people calling their parents for them saying, "Hey mom/dad, can you come and pick me up."
I think cell phones should be allowed because they can be helpful to some kids. Parents can get cell phones at Sprint, ATT, T-Mobile, Cricket, etc. In stores you can purchase your kids Firefly's. This is just a suggestion. But I'll say that your kids will be a lot safer with a cell phone.
Earth Day
Savannah, 12, of Canada

April 22 is Earth Day. Help clean out your neighborhood with friends and family. Go green by recycling old newspapers, cans, etc. Compost old banana peels, potato peels and other things that are biodegradable (can decompose on their own) without the use of chemicals.
You can help celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd and "Go Green" with many of your favorite celebrities like: The Jonas Brothers, Kelly Clarkson, Salena Gomez, Cameron Diaz and more. These celebrities are making a difference in the world and so can you!
Clean up a neighborhood park and even get your friends and family involved. The world is ours and the kids are going to be the future so lets make a difference of our world now.
Help make our world a better place so we can save the world from pollution. Because basically, this is the only world we've got, so lets make the best of it. Celebrate Earth Day and "Go Green" all at the same time!
Miley Cyrus - True Talent or Not?
Olivia, 10, of Westfield
Posted April 23, 2008
While riding home from school one day the topic came up about Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana. She was only eleven when she auditioned. Nobody should sing for huge audiences and not even be through middle school. This is totally outrageous and unfair.
At her audition she could not act or sing at all. The Disney producers still took her just because she was Billy Ray Cyrus' daughter. That just shows an obvious example of favoritism. Now Miley is popping up everywhere. Pardon me, Hannah fans, but she still stinks!
As I said before, Miley is popping up everywhere. There are many other stars who are so much better than her. She is throwing her life away. Her education is disrupted and she can't even write her own songs. Miley Cyrus is not a true celebrity.
If Miley Cyrus were to go on American Idol, she would have been turned down instantly. Simon would say, "nice meeting you. Your dad is great but you stink. Bye." And the world would have one less horrible pop-star.
Newspapers Late
Justin, 9, of Gary, Indiana

People of Gary, Indiana have a problem with newspaper delivery. It wasn't in the mailbox. Tyler delivers the newspapers. I had a talk with him. He said that the "machine" wasn't working. He delivers the paper between 12:30 A.M. - 7 A.M. each morning. These two people were the ones who wouldn't receive it "Garrison and Mason".
My mom called The Times company. I would check the mailbox and would find nothing in it. The Times said they will deliver it the following day. I was happy about it.
Everyday I would read the newspaper, and do the Soduku puzzle, and get my weather information.
And a message to everyone for more news go to nwi.com
My School Is the Best Around
Contrea, 9, of Miami, Florida
Posted April 23, 2008
My school is the best around and we have some good teachers like Ms. Swanson and Ms. Lopez from 3rd grade, Ms. Smith and Ms. Chan from 4th grade, and Ms. Thomas and Ms. Jones from the 5th grade.
We play so many times when we finish all of our work and when our teachers, Ms. Anderson and Mr. Macintosh are not tired or mad at us.
We have special classes like, Spanish, Art, Physical Education, Music and those teachers who run those classes are Ms. Sauco, Ms. Clerk, Coach Curry, and Ms. Brown. But when we don't have special classes, we go to the computer lab or we go TA centers.
Henry Reeves is the best school in the world, so come check us out at 111th street.
EQAO
Lola, 11, of London, England
Posted April 23, 2008
Well all you grades 4th and 6th out there, guess what? EQAO is
back. For all you grade 4s out there this is probably your first
year for the test.
Well you're all probably thinking what is EQAO? Well EQAO is a little test the school board uses to tell us what we have to do at school. There are three categories involved in this, and they are Math, Reading and Writing.
First we will talk about Math. Math is just reviewing what you've learned in your math class. Just think about it as little math test.
Next we will talk about reading. This test your teacher will give you a little short story and you will have to read it. Your teacher then will give you questions about the story and it will be
your job to answer them.
The last but not least thing we will talk about is writing. Your teacher will give you a piece of paper and, for example, it will say "write a letter to your principal and tell them why or why not they should remove vending machines from your school".
Listen, y'all just think of it this way. It's just a test for $7.00!!!!!
My School's Fun Things
Jai, 9, of Miami, Florida
Posted April 23, 2008
My name is Jai, and my school is fun. We have fun day, field day, kabooms, youth fair, dances, parties, and pajamas day. Everything that a great school could ever have and nice teachers like Ms. Swanson.
I don't like my teachers when they are strict. But when they are full of joy, they give us nice things because we're good.
No More China in Tibet

I am so mad at China for taking over Tibet. I want them to get out and leave Tibet alone! The people in Tibet deserve to be their own country.
So I am for the protesters. Go Tibet!
