Leave Miley Alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anna, 14, of Massachusetts
Posted April 30, 2008

People are constantly attacking Miley Cyrus and it really needs to stop! There is tons of pressure on her already but no matter how good she is, people keep looking for her to mess up! Every time something little happens, the tabloids get all over her! They are always saying that she is going to mess up her life, and be a bad example to kids just because some other former Disney stars did!

So she used a body double during her concert. Big deal! It was for about two seconds, and it was just so that she could change costumes. People keep saying that the Jonas Brothers could have just done another song but the whole point of doing it that way was so that the transition between Hannah and Miley would be really fast. And it's not even like they where trying to hide that they did it that way because in the 3D movie they showed the choreographer coming up with the idea!

Some less than modest pictures where on the Internet, but no one has any proof that they where actually her! In fact the news they referred to the person in the picture as a "Miley look alike." So it probably wasn't her but even if it was, who are we to judge her? This is going to sound cheesy because it is one of her songs but it is true, NOBODY'S PERFECT!

It really bugs me when people say that she has no talent, and that she only got the role of Hannah Montana because of who her dad is. First of all I doubt that Disney cares who her dad is because they are mostly interested in getting the most money they can. Hiring Billy Ray Cyrus' daughter wouldn't get them more money because most kids wouldn't have known who he is. So basically they would have nothing to gain so they wouldn't do it. They picked Miley because she had a really mature, strong voice for her age, she could act, and she had a bubbly personality and came across as "a person who loved every minute of life."

She must have done really well in her auditions because she was younger than everyone else there and they had plenty of other people to choose from! Anyways, it just bugs me when people bad mouth someone who they don't even know. Especially when they don't have all of the facts.

Toucans
Oumaima, 9, of Harrisburg, PA
Posted April 30, 2008

What are toucans? What family do they come from, and were do they live?

Toucans are a kind of bird with long beaks. They are colorful animals. They eat fruits, insects, lizards and nests from small birds. They drink water and do it while they bath as well.

Their beaks can grow up to seven inches and sixteen centimeters. When they are six to seven weeks old, they have grown all their feathers. The male has a bigger beak then the female. They have limited use of their wings while flying, but make good turns. They also have good eyesight.

They have enemies. Their enemies are weasels, boat billed flycatchers, hawks, eagles and trucks.

CLEAN UP TIME!
Loulou, 13, of Greenville

My school and I were wondering what we could do to clean up the Earth? I bet you are wondering why are we talking about this at school today and didn't just have a regular day.

I bet you are wondering what things we should look into to throw away. Well, it is because today, April 22nd, is Earth Day, meaning that we should clean up by picking up cans, paper, and plastic. The three most important and major things that you would pick up on Earth day.

Instead of throwing them away, we can always use the three major and most important things to do. Do you know what they are? Well they are the 3 R's which are Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Those are the most important things when cleaning up.

So now let us review. First, let us pick up Plastic, Paper, and Cans. Those are the major things to do, and with those things you can Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. By the time you're done our EARTH will be beautiful and clean.

Deformed Frog with Three Legs
Kate, 11, of Stax
Posted April 30, 2008

A new type of illness that affect frogs physically has been passed around that makes their off-spring have one or two extra legs! This is becoming a problem. This happened last year around November.

This new illness-affecting frogs (yes, I know frogs??) is kind of odd is it not? These extra legs are not always in the most common places. Some can be rather close to the face or anywhere else on their bodies. Imagine if you were born with an extra leg? Most likely it would be very hard to move around, I would think. So let hope we can find a cure for this illness.

My Pet Dog
Rebekah, 7, of Texas
Posted April 30, 2008

I have a pet dog. Well, actually two. One is named Belle and the other is named Seven. They are both cute. One is a yellow lab. The other is mixed. If you don't have a dog, go to aar.com, and there, they have puppies as well as big dogs.

Well, when I got my dog, Seven, my daddy put her in wrapping with tissue over it and that's how he gave her to me for Christmas.

My yellow lab, was replacing another dog that died. Seven felt so lonely, so we found a man moving to an apartment, and he couldn't keep Belle so we decided to take her.

Rumors and Gossip. True or Just Hurtful?
Soha, 9, of Lilburn, Georgia
Posted April 30, 2008

You must like hearing rumors about people. Let me give you advice. YOU SHOULDN'T!! These rumors are extremely hurtful and you are just making up false lies! Gossiping is worse than rumors. You are judging a book by its cover!

If you can't live without gossip and rumors, you love insulting people don't you? GET RID OF IT! You are just insulting people with a lame excuse. What if someone spread a rumor that you like someone? They will start gossiping about you as soon as they hear a rumor about you. Hurtful, huh?

You might think this news paragraph is stupid but let me tell you a little about rumor and then tell me that I am stupid. See this guy who sits next to me is like my best friend. We talk to each other a lot. Then this rumor started that we liked each other. I was soooooooooooooo mad! When my best friend found out, he and I decided to stop this rumor once and for all. This rumor is still going on! The best thing for you to do is don't believe in false rumors!!

Get China out of Tibet
Peace, 13, of Chicago
Posted April 30, 2008
The Chinese government should free Tibet from under them and allow the Dalai Lama or Tibetan leader to return. The Olympics this year in Beijing, China, are a great way to get the cause to be known.

The protests are rightful and I will not support the Olympics in China this year. The Tibetan cause should be supported by the world's leaders and not ignored because China is powerful. We can all do our part as citizens and not support the Chinese Olympics, however violence is not the best action as Ghandi once said, an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

Hard-Working Fourth Grade Kids at Hillsdale Elementary
Josie, 10, of Westchester, Pennsylvania
Posted April 30, 2008

My teacher Mrs. Nagy is a very nice teacher and all but she leaves us all hard working. the whole year we have been working our butts off with practice packets, and papers. In the class we work 24/7 at Hillsdale Elementary school.

All because she's so afraid of our test grades. She said that our goal is to get higher than 90% when 1/3 of the class get 80%. Almost every day she at least gives us five homework pages.

The least amount of pages she has given us was one page. Last Friday she gave us two pages when she wasn't supposed to. On each subject she gives 10 pages. We as the class don't have enough room in our desks for half the papers she gives us. My friend and I think that the number is pages she gives us ridiculous.

Mrs. Nagy is always nice too. After every state test, Mrs. Nagy always gives us a treat. Also she keeps our grades higher than anyone else, and also she shares very interesting facts. (But sometimes she gives us questions to answer for homework.) She is so giving because she gives us homework to learn not to hurt. Anyway there are some other up side to this. For example, if we work hard enough, she'll give us treats. Or extra time outside. But our favorite is popsicles. One time Mrs. Nagy gave us no homework passes for Christmas with two books (of our choice) one pencil and a candy cane. How nice is that. Thats the life for hardworking Hillsdale kids.

A Full House
Dragana, 11 of Indiana
Posted April 30, 2008

If any kids remember "Full House" they know a great show. It was made during the 90s and is a legend ever since.Several people made this show a show to remember. Now i will tell you about the characters!!!!

Good Old Danny Tanner leads the pack being the protective, clean sort of Dad. Next Joey Gladstone who was the funny best pal of Danny. Next, the cool, slick awesome uncle, who is Uncle Jessie, who is married to Becky Donaldson or now Mrs. Kat, who are the parents of Nicky and Alex.

Last we have the best sisters D.J Stephanie, and Michelle who are the daughters of Danny. You might be asking where is mom, but mom died in a car accident a little after Michelle's birth. The family holds together because they always will be together.

The Tanner-Gladstone-Kat household is located in one place and one place only. The White House with the red door located in San Francisco California. They all live together in rooms and somehow they always work things out like fights, disagreements and other "things". But the family lived in one house and loved each other.

So as you can see the Tanner-Gladstone-Kat family are all together.

You would say it was a full house.

Singing
Imani, 11, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Posted April 30, 2008

You know I always wanted to be a singer but here I am. So to all those singers I give you your props because I idolize Rihanna, Aaliyah, Teyana Taylor. I hope you will get far in this business but not only that but the best of wishes! I want to be a singer to all those peeps who want to follow your dreams!

Teyana Taylor: spunky, funny, sporty but really she's talented because her video "google me" is a hit now every day she's on my T.V set I hope she isn't a one-hit wonder! (Like some peeps)

Beyonce: uh-oh, "Get Me Bodied" and "Cater 2 U" was a hit but was it all because of her or Micheal or Kelly. I think Beyonce is always trying to get attention cause she's always in the middle because she likes all types of men looking at her.

Helping the Environment
Gaby, 11, of St. Louis, Missouri
Posted April 30, 2008

Helping the environment is very important. Why and how? We can all start by recycling. Do you recycle? I do and so should you. Ask people around your community. Many people are willing to help the Earth.

Not everybody cares about the Earth and Mother Nature. Kids all over the world want to help are environment. There are many different ways we can help the Earth like plant ing trees, clean litter from our woods and creeks.

Especially for the animals. Many will get hurt like people who litter, poison our waters, kill endangered species. I'm only one person that is writing this, but many people want to help and save our wonderful Earth. If we just throw things on the ground we are destroying our environment. Have you ever noticed that people like me and you are wondering what is happing to our Earth with all of this pollution?

So we can all help even just helping or cleaning our front yards. You might think it's crazy, but if you take a second to think about what is happening to our whole community.

Summer Olympics
Anonymous, 11, of New York
Posted April 30, 2008

The summer Olympics are coming and they will take place in Beijing, China. It is a real honor to be in the Olympics. There will be many different sports and many people. The Olympics would be a fun thing to watch, but the tickets are expensive and China is not the safest place to be over the summer with all the protesters. There are many guards watching the athletes in the Olympics because of the fierce protesters. But if you can't get tickets to at least on sport in the Olympics you can always watch this great experience on the T.V, but remember to go out side and play. I hope everybody is safe at this fantastic Olympics.

Miley Stinks!!and so does Hannah!!!!!!
Zoey, 11, of Tennessee
Posted April 30, 2008

Miley/Hannah are the worst 2 singers EVER!!!!! I hate them both.I agree with Olivia, age 10 of Westfield. The ONLY reason why she's even an actress/pop star (but she stinks at both of them) is because her daddy is Billy Ray Cyrus.

He can't sing either, they tweaked his voice, and now he and his 13-year-old daughter are famous. So if you agree with me, Zoey, and Olivia of Westfield STOP I REPEAT S-T-O-P buying her and her dad's albums, and other weird accessories.

Some good news and some bad news. One of the best attractions is closed, Fantastic Plastic Works. But there is a new one that opened, it is called Don't Waste It!

It is about not wasting trash. You get to drive a mini trash truck.

On my last trip I went there three times, and it was great! You will love it and it's very educational!

Tips for Tests
Darby, 10, of Arkansas
Posted April 30, 2008

Have you ever felt SO nervous before a big test? Her are some tips to help you get an A. Be relaxed and study.

Help With Studying:
When your teacher tells you that there will be a test, start studying. Even taking 10 minutes to study, helps! Do NOT stay up late the night before.

Being relaxed:
Get a good night's sleep the night before. Relax every muscle in your body a few minutes before.

Getting A's:
Do all the things above. Make a routine. Example: You study for five minutes, then go outside and run around, you come back in, get a drink, and repeat. Study with a group. Ask a parent to quiz you.

Do these steps, and get an A!!! Good Luck!!!
