Can you imagine going to school until 5 p.m.? How about going on weekends and even in the SUMMER? Well, some kids in Gary, Indiana are doing just that! They're attending KIPP:LEAD, a new kind of school.

"It's worth it," says Niya, age 10, "because we learn so much more than other kids in Gary. It's fun beause we have teachers always ready to start a brand new day and be active."

"I always start my morning with ten jumping-jacks and push-ups," says Glenn Davis, a math teacher at KIPP:LEAD.

News Flash Five asked Jameka, age 11, if she liked the long hours. She said yes because she doesn't have to be worried about being bored!

The KIPP:LEAD principal is April Goble and her goal is to teach a new school system in Gary. This is KIPP's first year in Gary which means this is the founding class! They will have another fifth grade class starting in July. It is located at the Y.W.C.A. KIPP schools start at fifth grade. This is the second KIPP school in Indiana.
