Private Schools

Why do most people think private schools are very different? Private schools are not as different from public schools as you think. Why do the children wear uniforms? Based on what I've been told the teachers believe not wearing a uniform takes childrens' focus away from their work. Would a private school still be called a private school without parents or guardians paying for it? Probably not because even though there is uniform, there is no money so it would be considered a charter school.

I go to a private school, I've been going there since I was four. The only difference I see in public and private schools is the fact that we have religion and wear uniform. One Friday a month we are allowed to dress down we have rules for that too. No graffiti on your clothes, and no holes in your jeans. We can wear our dressy clothes to spring concert and for Christmas. And on parent appreciation night we MUST wear our uniform. When I wear my uniform to a store after school I feel proud. Uniform is just what I wear to school, when I'm not at school I look just like anyboy who doesn't go to a private school.

At my school, my parents pay a tuition that is my school fee. If you don't pay the money you will not be accepted into school. But as far as I know that has never happened to anyone. If more than one child is enrolled per family you get a discount, the more children enrolled the less money.

Another thing that is different is the extra subject, religion. I'm not Catholic so I don't take communion. Next year when I'm in seventh grade I will take a special religion class for people who aren't Catholic. I am Penticostal. My school caters for people who aren't Catholic, they just take different classes from the kids who are Catholic. So I don't really feel out of place.

Private schools are small compared to a public school. My school is very small. I love my school because there always there for me and so are my parents. At a private school you have more of a chance to see the eighth grade student even if you are in first grade. This is because we don't have a separate building for middle school. We also have buddy system where you meet another student from another grade. At that point you become that persons buddy for the whole year -- no changing unless there is a new student. My school is exactly like a public school only with uniforms and Religion as an extra subject.
